Went to look for guitar related accessories today + recce for supplies for ensemble.
Supposedly went to woodlands to visit standard value, unfortunately, for me, i keep taking the wrong bus. Not really wrong, but i took 911 and 913, the bus went around the neighbourhood first, AND CAME BACK TO THE FREAKING STATION. So i really panic cuz i dun noe whether i took the right bus or not, but then, when the bus(913) im taking came back to the station, some passengers did not got off. THEN I REALISED THAT ITS SUPPOSE TO GO ONE BIG ROUND IN THE NEIGHBOURHOOD BEFORE GOING TO Woodlands checkpoint.
By then i realised, its like 7pm or so, and SV closes at 8pm. Luckily i arrived in time.
See ibanezes (MII) and Swings/Rallys(MIKs), and drool throughout. If only i had the money..........
Bought DrDuck's AxWax(cleaner) and took the mrt to peninsula where luckily, music theme haven closed in contrast to all other shops. Elixir strings was next, damage +$26. Got down to bread talk at cityhall and got some floss buns, damage +$4.50 though its going to be paid by my mother :D.
Anyway, at home then i realised there's a better deal. Like bluegrass company which sells the strings at $22!!!!!!! WAT THE #$%&!? Difference in damage amounting to $4!!!! Could have save the money, now my savings........ Sumore free postage, though the downside is that it takes 2 working days to be send....
Vow to buy from bluegrass already, much more cheaper.
And that's wat i did for the entire day on Friday 3th July 2009.....

Block tests 09
Seems like the onslaught of the H1N1 didn't bring about the school closure that soooo many of us (Pri/Sec/JC/Poly) expected it to be. Well, even so, i dun seem to like the idea of not going to school for another week, already, the ranting of teachers have made me feel damn uneasy whenever i'm touching my notes. Hack, and block tests coming up TOMORROW!!!!!! WOOOHOOO, FIRST MID-YEAR OF THE YEAR!!!
I WANNA SCORE!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, I DUN WANNA FAIL :(
A breakdown of the papers i'm having:
Monday, 29th June 2009: Econs (Case studies + 1 essay if i'm not wrong) along with Eng Lit (1 unseen + 1 prose analysis)
Okay, i'm so going to pass lit, i finally KNOW HOW TO WRITE A LIT ESSAY!!! Okay, divine forces, BLESS ME TONIGHT!
Tuesday, 30th June 2009:History ( 1 essay on SouthEastAsia + 1 essay on International History)
Finally figured out SEA on Friday, 26th of June 2009, wonder if that helps...........
Wednesday, 1st July 2009: No papers, which means BREAK!!!!
Thursday, 2nd July 2009: Maths paper
Okay, i'm sooo going to be a GONER for this one!!!!!
Friday, 3th July 2009: Nothing, but it seems like there's youth day celebrations and jogathon, though the latter seems like it not going to happen at all. Due to the ministry sensitivity over mass gatherings......
Thus, the WEEK OF HELL SHALL BEGIN!
P.S *Yawns* *Yawns* Sleeping time......

Yamaha's RG series
Today, on my daily surfabout through SOFT, Singapore's very own music forum, i spotted something RARE.
ITS THE YAMAHA RGX 420 DX, A FREAKING DISCONTINUED MODEL BY YAMAHA AGES BACK WHILE I'M STILL A GUITAR NOOB(although i kinda upgrade from this sorry state nowadays)!
From wat i read sumwhere, this model was actually yamaha's wannabe-entry model into the superstrat market dominated by Ibanez. Like many, we are not sure why did Yamaha eventually discontinued this, maybe because of some Copyright Infrigment Ibanez is going to deal wif yamaha? Maybe, cuz from wat it looks, This series really resembles an RG from the Ibanez line.
And the seller is selling at $350!!!!!! WHAT A BARGAIN!!!!!
The selling thread
And its posted TODAY @ 5.39pm!!!! THE TIME I WAS ONLINE!!!! Some sharp eyed collector must have already snatch the deal liao when i'm updating my blog liao *sobs* *sobs*, HOW I WISH I WAS RICH!!!!!! ATLEAST I HAVE IN EXCESS OF $700 in my pocket/bank, i can OWN THIS RARE BABY!!!!!
Adrian 2: Stop whining IDIOT!
Adrian: okay
Adrian 2: Ever wondered why the seller sell it so cheap?
Adrian: Ya hor, original price around $700+, now only $350 leh, must be that idiot(in NS) is short on cashflow and nid to have urgent cash to curb that girlfriend of his from running to another man by buying gifts to stem that girl's anger/lonliness...
Adrian 2: True...
Adrian: Dats even worse, nx time i wanna find one, another buggard come along and ask for $5000?
Adrian 2: Maybe, BUT U BE RICH THEN!
Adrian: I hope so :D
Time check: Its been an hour since i last read the thread, at this is the prime time for heavy internet traffic, so yeah, the guitar changed hands liao...... DAMN!!!!!
P.S I'm obsess wif guitars made by Yamaha, they are really a bargain for that kinda price....

GENUS Concert 09
6th June 09, was a very fun and interesting day.
Met up wif AJ, fellow guitar member and embark on our quest to peninsula plaza to buy guitar-related items. And how interesting it is to actually realised that a bottle of Dunlop's String Cleaner and Conditioner 65 actually cost wayyyy much cheaper than Yamaha selling it. The shop we went to, Music Theme sold it at $6.50 whereas Yamaha Plaza Singapura sold it at $11+? U see, thats how big a difference it is, and btw, music theme's strings and cleaners are the cheapest in the whole of peninsula, so yeah, abit of advertising here on my part.
So i brought my Daddario strings EJ45 like $9, and thats very cheap. A check on Ernie Ball Slinkly's for accoustic are also quite cheap, like $22?
Okay, back to topic.
This was my first time going to a guitar concert, and ofcourse, it was great! Never knew that GENUS performed that well, and how ironic that i didn't even know of GENUS if it wasn't for the fact that i joined YJ's Guitar Ensemble. And this year, there's some Ensemble from germany named JUGENDMUSIKSCHULE PFORZHEIM GUITAR-ENSEMBLE.
Dun bother mouthing it yeah.
Basically, the whole ensemble played some really nice music that i didn't know of. So much goes to my musical knowledge. Even better was when like 2 members of GENUS are able to arrange some pieces. WAH!!! So talented, arranging orchestra level pieces. And some of them are able to play different instruments too, like flute, percussion instruments and the likes.
I wonder if the rest of the ensemble is the same.....
After the entire concert ends, which is like 2 hours and 30 minutes later at 10.30pm. Melvin, Zhen Xiang, Manna, AJ and me went for late night supper at clementi's macdonalds. Really lucky that Aj kinda reminded me that the last train is going to come in 5 mins time, so we fast walk to the station and exactly 2 mins later, the LAST TRAIN ARRIVED!
My, this is the second time i'm taking the last train home. U can see all the tired faces in the train, and the near empty stations especially when the train is making its passing around the city area. Never noticed such things before, the 'calmness' of a station that u couldn't normally see because its always so crowded...
Arrived at bedok round 12.30am+ and went to buy supper for parents at mac. 2 double cheeseburger + MacChicken EVM. Walk home after that cuz there ain't any more bus in service. Even the walk back home seems relaxing, empty walkways, quiet void decks. An excellent change in environment from the ones i was always used to seeing, very much like the concert i attended. Different music, lots of people. Okay LOL
P.S ACCORDING to my frens, i was noisy in the concert. Just because i felt it was worth shouting for the good music they played, so i kinda went at the top of my voice cheering them on. And i even shouted: "WOOH! MR ALEX!!!" hahaahahaahhaahhaha, crazy fun that i lacked so much in life....

Block Test 09
First examination i took ever since i came to YJC, not inclusive of class tests and term papers lah.
On Friday, 29th May 2009, i sat for the ever dreaded General Paper, detest by every JC student since it was known. And another affectionately termed H1 Mother Tongue, which isn't very good either.
For GP paper 1, I undertook the task of writing "Is technolgy to be blamed for crimes in modern society". Which ofcourse in my case, isn't. So i started crapping about Guns, Computer and the Internet. I said, first of all that guns are "The greatest creation mankind has undertook", which would set in place a motion, in any case, both traditionalist and revisionists and post revisionists critics would argue till the end of mankind.
And i finished off saying that since technology is the creation of the human mind, shouldn't humans be blamed first instead? Considering that without the lack of technology, humans are still able to kill each other (punching to death), steal (punch the glass windows) and last but not least, rape (physical prowess). So yeah, i tink i'm on my way to whoever knows wat is in stall for me, considering wat my tutor is looking out for.
For GP paper 2, dunnoe why, but always, my summary has the least amount of words, at 87 if i'm not wrong. The limit is 130 words, so yeah, i tink i have just flunk this, why anyway it only asked for Paragraphs 3 AND 6. Some idiots actually took Paragraphs 3-6, shows that u dunnoe HOW TO READ INSTRUCTIONS. For the questions, i tink i did fairly well, paraphrase my entire answer so that it actually reads differently, but means the same. As for the kind of questions asking for meanings, i just whack wateva i had in mine, which by far, isn't quite the same as wat my peers wrote, so i tink there goes my 5 marks :(
For Chinese paper 1, i took Q4, which is basically a GP question in chinese thats all. The question is about how singapore deals with the outbreak of pandemics, which they should just change to "how singapore deals with swine flu" considering wat we are facing right now. So yeah, while most people are off doing Q1-Q3, there i am, attempting this, all becuz it has already given us quite soem hints on wat to write for Individual, Society, Government, School. So i'm counting whether or not Miss Luo will take the crap i have produced, hopefully ^.^, i wish for atleast a C for essay.
As for compre, dunnoe wat to say, cuz the AQ part i totally crap it all out. Filling in the blanks..... Dunnoe, i jus see whichever is suitable/sounds nice when spoken out.
And sumthing amazing, the entire cohort spend the entire day in the Hall, from 9am-1.30pm and then from 2.30pm to 5.30pm. How amazing that one day is gone just by writting papers.................
Oh yeah, after my 3 weeks holidays, Block test right on the first day. DAMNIT! I have a month to catch up on maths and econs!!!!!!!!!!!!

Avontuur at Republic!
YJ totally tio pawned at this year's race.
We 'conquered' the third, fourth and fifth position. But count from the last :D
Whereas schools like CJC, AJC, HCI(only one took part so combined wif VJC, AJC), which sends their ODAC teams, also got pawned, mainly becuz of the poly's team. Which u knw lah, loads of experience, more talents.
Basically, if i'm not wrong, SP took 3th NP took 2nd and NYP took 1st.
But ofcourse lah, how can we compare against them? We are officers, not OUTDOOR ADVENTURE CLUB. Which i tink is more suited for peeps in our ODAC. But then, why didn't they joined? Ironic right?
The race in whole was VERY well organised and elaborately set up, in the sense the distance between stations can be as far as 2.4km? One moment we were navigating round woodlands, we arrived at admiralty then shoot back to woodlands, then marsiling. Fun right? And my legs are aching, and literally crying out from the soreness i put them through.
From like being a loadbearer, navigator and runner? I tink that this race really challenged me, especially when u are dealing with a person who score like 12min+ for 2.4km, YET AGAIN!?
And also, maintaining a clear sense of mind, kudos to the organisers to tap on the fact that after just a few stations, most teams would be exhausted from all the running, they included some maths test where u are suppose to climb a flight of steps 10 storeys high, at the same time, doing problem sums placed at some landings. How amazing! I tink our SC should do this for orientation trail next year too...
Most teams spend the longest time there, along wif the suduko challenge :P
I screwed up on orienteering, LOL.
Other than that, i got to knw 3 more UG Members better. Like Chin Rong(YTSS NCC), our college's SC's Vice-President, Derrick also from YTSS NCC, and Clarice(i tink its spelled like this) from Canberra Sec NPCC.
And now, as always, why do NPCC members always outnumber NCC peeps? What the hell is wrong with their members? Like UG club in YJ is also dominated by them, urgh.........
Anyway, i still have econs essay to do. Which i haven't, along wif revision of SEA history. And i nid to collect stuff at City Hall and Plaza Singapura 2mr.
Which basically means another screwed up weekend...... AND THERE'S GP BLOCKS COMING UP ON FRIDAY!
DARN DARN DARN DAMN DAMN DAMN!

Loaded
Um not quite in the monetary side, but rather, my commitments and responsibilities.
Even before in the mid-year of schooling, i'm already laden wif roles such as Logistics and Administrative In-Charge of YJC's 2nd China Studies in Chinese Seminar, Avontuur Race in Republic Polytechnic, would-be participant of the Hillary Challenge, C/Offr for both East District's Phase 2 and 3 Spec Course, Host to a German student who is visiting Singapore and a would-be member of YJC's Guitar Ensemble Executive Committee.
Really, i think i'm really OCCUPIED with so many things, add in Project Work this year. Well, it basically sums up a both fun and exciting experience in JC. Downside is, i'm not exactly doing well in my subjects. History term tests failed, Maths EPIC fail, Literature fail also, all with the exception of economics, which i'm glad to say, doing well.
And next week is my first GP block test. Whats worrying is the fact that i score a very pathetic grade for my first GP essay at 18/50, when all my peers are getting like >20? Ironic even that i wrote argumentative essays in secondary school... Language, as always, had been my bane. Essay got problem, Compre also got problem. Dunnoe whether if i would survive GP and Chinese Block Test coming next week.
The problem here isn't really whether i can understand for both History/Literature/GP, its that i can't EXPRESS EXPRESS AND EXPRESS myself. History, always blank, unable to write anything. Literature, i ALWAYS get the WRONG PERSPECTIVE or the view that people cannot accept. GP, as said earlier on.
Not that i'm doubting whether JC is a life for me, its really more on the bad side of me that always keep surfacing. The side that can't do this or that. Maths, dunnoe why, but i kinda lost the drive i had in secondary school. Where i suprise myself by getting a B4 for O levels maths, when my average used to be D7.
CA1 test was all the more disappointing, just as i thought i would be able to score atleast an E(pass). I got a U, which is so much worser off than a S, sumore this is H1 leh! I really wonder if this would cause me to be retent next year somehow, no matter how i try to be optimistic that i'm able to get it, one way or the other.
So, i better be off doing my Int History reflections/PROOF reflections/SEA History Term Essay right now :D

Productivity
Um.... NO, i'm not going to start on Economics here, which kinda reminded me that i hadn't revised it during the long weekend break :(
Friday had been good, cuz most of us (SG24) were looking for yet another three day break since the last one on May Day 09. Never really sure, but i guess more or less wat they feel is the same as me. We TOTALLY screwed up our time management. For the past week, we had been rushing homeworks, revising for CA1 even though we do not have Mid-Years.
Yeah, the experience of independent studying is great, but the living part. Well u get what i mean...
And i had an interview on Friday too for me and my wihsing part of vying for the coverted President's Post of YJ's Guitar Ensemble. The interview was both exciting and sad in some way, like how i screwed up when they ask that kind of "What if..." questions. And also when the currrent President went: "Um, u knw, this is an ensemble, not NCC arh" With much amusement from everyone, teachers and current excos alike.
I'm having this really bad feeling over this, but as what people would say "Aiyah, nevermind one lah". So if worse come to worse, i most likely just have to depend on my role as a cadet officer in NCC to boost up my SGC...
Saturday was kinda wasted in a sense. I slept like 1am on Friday, and woke up like 6.30pm on Saturday. There u have it, entire day gone, with not much homework completed. So with much procrastination, i did like 3 out of 10 today, NOT GOOD! Do not wish to have any more screwed-up session for this week! MUST COMPLETE HOMEWORK!
Tuesday this coming week is gonna be my life sapper, gotta get down to Republic Poly for my Avontur race clinic. For those who kinda dun get what i've just typed, Avontur is Adventure, in wat language i do not know, so the whole thing just means Adventure Race.
I dun get it, this is suppose to be a task for those peeps down at ODAC, not something for us UniAid members. Still have to pay $15 u knw!? Ever since i got myself into this JC, i have been spending and spending for god knows how much!
And sumore, the whole freaking thing i guess is gonna end really freaking late. The clinic starts at 5.10pm, and judging for past experiences, its ending off no less than 8pm. And RP is situated at woodlands, and i'm living at bedok. So i tink i most likely get home round 10pm++?
Yeah, so i better buck up and start completing my homework now or else i'm going to screw up yet another week, and fail yet another test dats coming... MATHS!
P.S I failed my Int History Test, and Lit Assignment, along wif Lit Test. God damnit, wat m i doing!?
