Here, this is called MARPAT( MARine PATtern)

Singapore's No.4...
Okay, why the difference? Well, it muz be that the Mindef is seeking new ways to lower the visibility of our soldiers in the field, cuz wif this new camo system, the eye will be harder to take in information regarding pixelated images rather then seeing large patterns of black, green and brown.
Not only that, it can kip up wif the 3th Generation Army we are striving for. For some reasons knw to many, this also means we can boasts our ties wif the USA since this would be the first-of-its kind contract to buy these uniforms directly from the USA( no other countries have done it!).
Readabout this report in the newspaper( Strait Times in fact), about this change of uniform. Was somewhat not shock, but was rather expecting this information as i'm wondering "why the heck u(SAF) would still be using an outdated camoflauge system?". The report also say that the change in uniform would not be so soon and i would affect people who are regulars in the SAF, so folks who are awaiting NS now would not have the chance to see this change cuz the SAF still haven decide how to sew ranks and stuffs on to the uniforms. According to reliable sources, the ranks would be sewn on the chest side. Somewhat funny for officers who have their ranks on the shoulders to symbolize the "carrying of responsibilty" on the shoulders, now it would be to 'carry responsibility in the heart"...
As an NCC cadet, this would ofcourse be exciting news, but then, due to the overstrained budget of our Singapore Government. As of now, i tink we(NCC) aren't that close to having it. Considering the stockpiles of No.4s we have in our HQ NCC warehouse, it would be wise to use that for a few years so as not to be so cost inccuring. After that, the change would have to be applied to shops supplying army goods as they are the ones who would be affected the worst, since they bought the No.4 for $15 and selling it for $30. Now they would juz have to pray hard that some cockheads juz got his No.4 screwed and would nid to replace it, not individual eh, the whole NS force leh...
So let us as NCC cadets wait for the implementation of the change of uniform to hit us at the year 2010(predicted)!
P.S Since the uniforms have to be imported from america due to the nature of the licensing there, the retailers would be unable to get their hands on it as it is strictly out of bound for commercial selling. Also even it is available for commercial selling, the price who would damn ex, considering that the top of a MARPAT uniform cost USD$45 at the america, do the math and see if any would want to import it...
