School

Today was a fiasco....

Reached school like 6.40am to complete my GP, but found out that we have PW talk instead. Got this guy, a librarian from NLB teaching us on conducting Quality Checks on prospectives websites for research proposes. Fun and informative in my opinion, he also cited example whereby a survey was done on 35 students to see if they actually believe a thing called the "Amazon tree octopus" which is shown on one website.

Funny thing is 34 out of the 35 local students surveyed by Strait Times actually believe that such a thing exists, which shows us how deceptive the web could be or as he puts it "Wild, Wild, Web".

Maths was next, totally dun catch a ball about sampling methods, but did some practice here and there, and the whole thing looks clearer than before. Guess this is wat they call "Accelerated understanding", personally hope that it can stay on in me... FOREVER :D

Lit was by far, the best out of the tutorials/lectures i had today! Managed to understand whatever Mr Nair is talking about themes used to interpret or represent a story or novel. Bla, bla, bla. Had some jokes here and there, including Mr Nair questioning me "Adrian, why are u smiling hysterically at me?" Gosh! I'm straight for ur information! I smile or laugh whatever cuz there was this joker from my chinese calss whom i forgot the name, blatantly falling asleep in from of u.

TAKE DAT NAIR! POOR EYESIGHT U GOT!

Econs was as interesting as usual, today was the release of results for the mini-test they had last week. Poor me, the lowest was 3/10, i got 0/10. Wats even WORSE is that i be missing the next test on case study conducted on this Wednesday! Talking about coming at the wrong time............... Wat is even mysterious is that i' able to correctly identify relevant points to be included in my essay, but as always, I CAN'T WRITE!

Seriously, i tink i be moving at a ungodly pace once my course ends. All those work to cover, and not a single one done yet, except for my GP compre. There's still 3 newspaper article reviews, 2 Lit assignments, and some irritaing form of Econs Essay which i have not handed in yet. DAMNIT! ALL HANDED IN BY TOMORROW, AND THE HELL M I SITTING HERE BLOGGING ABOUT IT!

Shit happens, take it as it comes -> Procrastination gets u to nowhere, especially in a Junior College!

GODAMNIT!!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S I still can't freaking explain why m i so vulgar all of a sudden! On a sidenote, saw a quarter of Syndicate 2 today while i was taking 969 to school, and feels weird not to be in my No.4. Oh my, 57th CADET OFFICERS COURSE!

SAR 21 IMT and Live Fire

In case u army noobs out there can't get wat i have written, heres wat; SAR21 is the acronym for Singapore Assualt Rifle of the 21st Century, IMT means Individual Marksmanship Trainer (like firing guns in an arcade), Live Fire means firing REAL COLD HARD NICKEL BULLETS AT A SHOOTING TARGET WHICH IS ALSO USED FOR KILLING.

Right, as a Cadet Trainee of the 57th Cadet Officer Course. I would nid to pass my SAR21 IMT to proceed on to its respective Live Fire. A shocking truth, I FAILED my M16 IMT during Sec 3 but got (2 pts frm)marksman for M16 Live Fire. HOW THE HELL DO I REASON WITH A COMPUTER WHO COMPUTE MY RESULTS AS FAIL WHEN I GOT THE BEST GROUPINGS IN MY CANADIAN BULL TARGET DURING IMT?

I'm seriously freaking + mini spasms seeing how vague virtual reality is. Wat if the same freaking thing happends again? I cannot LIVE FIRE, WHICH i so WANA go to! There be like 2 x Mag of 6Rds for Fig 11 (full-size human figure) and the same amount of bullets for Fig 15 (Head and shoulder visible only) all at 100m, although i have score head shots on Fig 15 @50m using the SAR21 during Army Open House 2007, i'm still worried if i can continue this shooting streak that i have for 2mr. Since 50m is hell a big gap away from 100m.

But, NSFs fire the SAR21 at 300m. Which kinda makes NCC TrainFire programme a relatively 'easy' one to pass (or so they say).

MARKSMAN, HERE I COME!!!!

Last day of school...

Okay, first things first:

1) I'm not off to a poly education.
2) I'm not expelled from school <- Too guai for that :p
3) I'm not sick, and will NEVER be sick.

Since i clarified said matter, the one and only thing i be off from school is because i need to fufill my goal of becoming a NCC Cadet Officer. Yes, i be missing 14 days of school. And i aint feeling great bout that, considering that i'm starting to love school now than before. Missing my frens in both my CTG and SG, and all the fun that we had. All the stress that i gone through whether it is project work or completing my assignments in time or even endured scoldings by the teachers for not completing assignments and stuffs.

Yeah, thats how it is like for somebody like me who doesn't feel well into the category of a 'Academic. But i dun give a damn, as long i enjoy schooling, nothing gonna change my mindset over it.

So to atleast comfort myself for the time being, here are the pictures of my new stores i had drawn on Wednesday wif Lawton. In case u are wondering who he is, he's another fren of mine in the same school who is together wif me in missing school for 14 days. Kinda bastard him when i made him wait for 40 mins at the bus stop, SORRY BRO, THE DAMN SBS BUS BROKE DOWN DESPITE SAID COMPANY PROMISED BETTER SERVICE FOLLOWING THE RISE IN BUS FARES.

So that shows how a simple thing like this can change the others perception of u...

Here are the stores i drawn which consists of:

1) 1 set of No.3 (Office Wear)
2) 2 set of No.4 (In-Field Uniform)
3) 1 set temporary loan of No.1, the uniform worn by SAF personal during NDPs
4) 1 pair, court shoes or wat is that u called it that white collar workers wear?
5) 1 pair, combat boots.
6) 1 pair Cadet Officer on-probation rank for both No.1, No.3 and No.4 Uniforms
7) 1 pair No.1 and No.4 Cadet Officer trainee rank
8) 1 MINDEF Officers' belt (gold coloured)

Pictures:

Come to think of it, the equipment that we draw do cost them a bomb. Not going into details, but the least i can say is that the total price of uniform drawn cost around $300?
Also, 9th of April 2009 is the end of my course, which is also the day my Graduation Ceremony falls. And here i am extending this invitation to all who are interested in coming, just tell me through MSN. Btw, the ceremony begins in the evenings :D
So tomorrow marks the day where i'll be trained to become a Cadet Officer, till then, MSN/Facebook will not be regularly log on which also means that i TRY to refrain myself from switching on the computer except during the weekends(YAY).
Signing Off!!!
P.S For those of you wondering about the fairness of whether i need to hand in my assignments, I would STILL need to hand in my HOLIDAYS assignment on this coming Saturday 28th of March 2009 and the WHOLE 3 WEEKS of assignement given when i'm out-of-school on the first day i back in school which is the 13th of April 2009. And no April fools this year.... AGAIN!!

57th Cadet Officer's Course!

Went down to Amoy Quee Camp, aka HQ NCC together wif 38th Artillery, this afternoon at 1.45pm. Yeah, left school dat early when its supposed to be at 2.40pm. So, i missed H1 Chinese class for that time i left school. In terms of economics, this is also known as Opportunity cost which arises from scarcity; a result of limited resources to meet the unlimited wants.

However, in this case, my opportunity costs only involves me losing 1.5hours of H1 CL. Which in any case, means jus going through another half of the reading that we didn't complete yesterday, along with the teacher explaining and etc etc.

But, i tink i gained MAXIMUM SATISFACTION out of going to the Pre-course briefing held today. First, my name wasn't exactly registered in the Syndicate's name list yet. Secondly, i went there feeling messed-up. Partially because i'm worried that i couldn't cope wif work in school as i'm out of school for effectively, 14 days.

What's worse is that time-off for the daily activities can only be considered on a case-by-case basic, i dun really knw if they will allow me to get back to school like up to 2 times a week to catch up wif studies and handing in my increasing workload of assignments.

SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT is all i can tink of.

Anyway, since i'm not in only syndicate as-of-the-moment. I'm temporarily slotted in to this syndicate called S1. Felt strange as i was there as i'm the only uniformed person amongst them, however, some random guy from Seng Kang sec NCC broke the ice wif me by saying "U in YJC arh? I was there for the orientation only".

LOL, somebody WAS in the same school as me! Too bad he's off to some poly to further his studies, but this random thing kinda started conversations amongst us, ATLAST, the whole syndicate lighted up and brim with laughter and cries from the silly jokes that we made while talking, whereas the other syndicates was stoning since the time they were fall-in together.

Enjoyed myself really, as i never thought i would be in such a fun-loving syndicate :P We greeted 2WO Eric Kan together, sing together, march together and humiliate ourselves.... TOGETHER!

Wonder really if i have the chance to be wif them, as they are mainly from central and i'm from the east. Must have the greatest luck if i'm together with them, then 57th COC would truly be the most enjoyable camp i have to date.

Lawton, dun worry, u east i'm also east. Most likely i be in ur syndicate :(, the stoners and quietest amongst all....

P.S I will be learning Military skills, Leadership skills, First Aid, Learning Journeys and Stripping/Assembly/Firing @100m for the SAR21. YEAH! All this will contribute to my NYAA GOLD application! WOOHOO, I'M HIGH NOW!!!!

Home sweet home!

Yeah, i'm back to Singapore!

The past four days spend at Bintan wasn't exactly fun as i was expecting it to be, right on the first day, we (wave 3) were made to eat plain rice for lunch while other classes are having meat and vegetables. I'm not that petty, but, HOW THE FUCK DID WE ENDED UP EATING THAT? Major screwed up right?

Apprently, there's some supposed jokers from the other waves who took more then they can digest. Greedy bastards i call them, must not be from any of the UG. Cuz we are all schooled in the same mentality.

Anyway, there's still something optimistic to talk about. I'm REALLY learned something from this trip: Never take things for granted. Comparing my experience over at Bintan and here, i can say that we are really fortunate as singaporeans. We do not have salty-water for our baths, we have proper sanitation, we have good rice, vegetables and meat, good transportation systems and need not worry about our daily living for our parents are there to provide for us.

Over there, teenagers start working as soon as there are able to. Which by far, means around the same age as us. They are already made to do labour such as cutting down mangrove trees as a raw material for charcoal making, fishing with their fathers to feed their family or else started working as waiter and waiteresses in the resorts of Bintan.

Whereas here in Singapore, we only need to open our mouths and everything would be provided. Say for me, my parents do not hesitate to pay for anything related to my schooling expenses even though it can really burn a hole in their pockets. Such as the classical guitar i just brought from Yamahe for usage in the Guitar Ensemble i'm took as a CCA, even though my parents are not well-off, they readily fork out the money for me just so i can do good in this.

Not only that, before this trip, my parents also fork out money just so i could get more canterbury bag to be used not only in this camp, but for school too.

I really appreciate them for all they had given me, even though we can really argue pretty bad at times. They just forgot all that we argued about, and proceed on to address our current issues at hand. For all of these as compared to life at a developing country, i must really treasure this, and try not to be damn childish and argue with them at every chance i've gotten.

So yes, the trip itself maybe screwed up in every single-way-possible-yet-acknowledged-by-the-organisers. I took home something that than those 'adventure' activities, something the chance my outlook on life.

P.S Will post photos of my adventure there next time when i got the chance :) Also, i learn to appreciate SBS's buses. Over there, the bus are damn squeezy and no aircon at all. So, i learn again to be more appreciative of SBS bus even thought the bus drivers can really be sucky at times, i will search for ways to screw them up if they happen to find problem with me!
