Orientation Chronicles 2009

Yeah! Orientation finally finished. Still remember vaguedly how i woke up at 4.30am everyday juz to get to school for this past week to have fun/enjoyment and all other things related to 'Orientation'...

Anyway, here's a breakdown of my 'adventure' for this past week->
Monday, 2nd February 2009:
Reached school at 6.30am (!?). Look around to see all the bewildered/astonished/surprised/dull/bored looking faces all around me. Sat at the old school canteen overlooking the quadrangle, wondered how my life will take a turn for this 2 years. Wondered where are those that i know of, and can't believe its all returning to its pieces again. Same thing, 4 years ago, i was admitted into a school called Chai Chee Secondary. Now, I'm admitted into a school called Yishun Junior College. Marvelled at how 4 years just flew by, all those defiance, arguments, fights and bickering in my previous school. Wats even hilarious i thought of, is that i never even knew wat is Junior College in the first place. Only interested in this when Sec 3 came along, but even then, my grades were not that great. Averaging round 26 points for my L1R5...
Now, here m i. Beginning another chapter of my life. The pre-university route. Wonder how life will turn out to be... When we were all called into the hall. Went into the wrong class intially, becoz of my dumbness. Sang the national anthem, and listened half-heartedly to the principal's address. Was great listening to her speak, a definate improvement to the usual stuffs i listened to during my secondary school, when Mr Loke would juz keep going on and on in wateva he talks, sometimes straying off here and there...
Went for breakfast after that, got to see the full faces of my would-be classmates. And my, do they look totally strange! Sat with some guys who look-like they knew each other. Sat with them, stuttering initally when i ask one for his name. Strange u know, that started the whole get-to-know-each-other conversation. Instantly clicked with them, before i knew it. We were going to places in our own little group, talking about this here and there. Getting to know them, getting to be new classmates.
Know my CTG Tutor, Miss Ang, when we went to this container looking classroom. Played some ice-breaking games, intro bout each other, had fun together. After that, went to look for the respective subject teachers to know more about the subjects that we are gonna take, at the lower library. Took interest into H2 Econs right away, wonder if i'm able to take H3 too... Next thing i knew it, 5pm came. Sat at the hall, listening to the debrief conducted... Went home after that...

Tuesday, 3th February 2009:
Day was spent learning our mass dance. Not quite mass, but coupled up. So there we was, dancing to candyman. Nice really, never had this kinda fun before. Especially when u and ur partner both dance the wrong thing...
Discuss bout our class cheer and skit too. The skit was abit to exaggerated, wif TQ being raped by three girls. I dun tink this will ever happen.... LOL
The class cheer was great, clever of Alicia to thought of the popeye song or wateva that is. It starts: "We are the mighty ones. We are the super ones. We are the mighty, We are the supers. We are the number 1!"

Wednesday, 4th February 2009:
Some outside vendors came in and brought along some wat-they-called-it Olympics education. Not really olympics though, its juz strives to teach us some really common sensical ideas. Like how to overcome obstacles lah, negative ideas, strategy planning, class togetherness. Really basic i feel, but i like the instructors though. Dunno why, but they seem different from wat i got in secondary school. They even taught us this Eskimos cheer. This is sumthing the eskimos do after their 6 months period of winter when the sunlight finally shined through their North Pole's Sky...
Liked it. Even better was that the entire school was involved, so its kinda crazy though. Wif everyone doing the same thing, like tribal stuff...
Ate lunch after that. When we came back, another vendor was there. From High Acheivers, familiar eh? This is the same company that came to my sec school for motivation talks, study methods talk, and Sec 3 camp organisers.
Anyway, we play a game for the entire afternoon. It involves one of our frens being 'kidnapped', we are suppose to find the location of him. And start off a chain of activities which the class must do together. Love it! Super-uber fun, ran wif the three others like siao to track Ting Qiang intially. After that, the whole class went around and do alot of activities, then guess the number of the locker which Ting Qiang's handcuff keys arh. After that, still need to carry him back cuz he is a casulty!
Here's the picture->
It was not easy carrying him back! *I did carried him, only to transfer to nicholas cuz i wanna take a pic of TQ being carried. So, to get back some payment from him carrying him back. We resort to 'pole-ing' him. See water pipes, bring him there. See door, brought him there. See pillars, brought him there too :)
Had fun really, after that was debrief. Got to know that we have this 'Amazing' Race for Thursday all around Yishun...
P.S, took wrong bus for this day. Was so tired that i saw 969 instead of 169, ended up outside khatib camp. Walk out, and got onto bus 854 to go home. Swuay again, this time, 854 broke down at hougang. Got out and 87 came along, hopped onto it. And reached home =)
Thursday, 5th February 2009:
From morning 8am to afternoon, the day was spend walking all around yishun. YES, WALKING! Wats even worse is that our routes were messed up by the Excos. So the distance between every station is insansely FAR. Went to one station, completed it, and was told to proceed to another one.
Wei Jie, our OG GPS. Named so becuz of his knowledge of the geographical location of everything in Yishun, lead us to every station. One station particularly, was hilarious. He told us we can reach there under 5 minutes by walking... And so, there we are, walking to places i didn't even know off. The time took to get us there: 30 minutes! Gosh, Wei Jie's Maths seriously cocked up.... How u gonna take H1 Maths arh?
When back to school after all the fun, listened to debrief. And realised that our class is quite bonded afterall...
Friday, 6th February 2009:
The day was spend preparing for our GRAND FINALE. Quite nice really, got myself admitted into the group where the loudest and most enthu people resides. The task we are supposed to do: do House cheer on stage. The fun doesn't stops here, the girls in the group propose the guys to shake here and there for more vibe and excitement. Gosh! Embaress totally, esp when we went to stage. Even had pictures taken and posted into school's webby no sooner bah...
Wat a great way to rememeber my adventures in JC!
After dat, watch the Couple dance finals by the best two from each house. Brazhen won, no surprise really. Since the couple danced really well.
Had barbeque after that, the pictures are as shown->
Me preparing to start the fire, while the rest are taking the already cooked food.
The fire-starter, The Chef in-charge for cooking.
Picture taken after all the fun...
Boys acting cute, girls cating cute also....
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, LOL!
The fun is really good, there's was also a Jam and Hop session. The band that came in and play was great. Their beatboxing and guitar rifts were extraordinary! Wat a great way to remember the fun we all had before the actual hell begin.
During this 5 days, my thinkings about this school really change drastically. Not going to talk about it here, its something confidential...
But one things for sure, made some really good friends. Some from my class, and some not. Seems i really do have affinity wif this school. Even the house characteristic and colour is the exact same as the house i'm in during my secondary school days...
Going for some winks now, see the time i completed this post! Sure not enuff sleeping time, gonna end up heads down and drooling for tomorrows class discussion.....
Signing Off!
