Life there -> San Antonio, Texas (Part 1)

Rawr! Finally stop procastinating and get down to real serious business, in this post, i'm going to SHOW about wat WE have done bak dere at ICEP USA 2008... Not sooo much words, let the pictures do the talking...

Day 1( Singapore, 5.30am, 5th June 2008):

Rite, this is us, the 12 lucky participants of this yr's ICEP USA( wif 2 teachers ofcourse, but, who cares?). Accompanying us on this photo is none other than my East District Commander Cpt James Foo( u dun knw who? he's the one wearing white). So honourable of him( i swear that other DCs wouldn't do the same!) to come in the wee hours of the morning, photo taking juz had we left around 40mins or so to board the plane( NW0020) to Narita, Tokyo.
The skies over Narita, Tokyo.
Day 1( Minneapolis, St Paul 12.30pm( if i'm not wrong), 5th June 2008):
Rite, apparently there is not much photos for this entry as blurr-headed me forgotten that i'm on a holiday... So wat i can tell u is that our plane to San Antonio, Texas was being delay frm 2.15pm to 3.45pm due to some technical problems. But rite after that, it was determined that the 'problem' could not be ignored and the Captain of the flight ordered a change of planes and ofcourse a different gate for this particular flight( NW1916). Poor us have to navigate ACROSS the entire airport that seems like us taking the 2.4km run to ANOTHER end of the airport. Bad news struck us again by saying that there is thunder storms and strong wind of up to 40 knots accompanied by hail storm. It was again delayed till 6pm++, when we boarded the plane, the captain of this plane told us that we are not cleared for take off due to the CAT 1 storm rite up the clouds. By this time, i'm already under the influence of the motion sickness pill that i ate and drifted to sleep cuz i overdosed on it( 3 pills straight leh). As for the other details during the flight, all i know was that the plane hit some really bad turbulence that it seems that the entire plane would be torned apart by it( informed by the rest...). Also accompanying that would be really bad storms( yes u heard it rite, STORMS!) wif rain that juz keep hitting the planes till u can hear the splatter of it and thunder that can split ur ears apart( heard it myself, then went to sleep again for the entire journey). Terrible ride i can say, heng this plane still can tahan, otherwise...

The wait at the airport, till the storm subsides...
Arrived at San Antonio, Texas at around 10.40pm++. Overshot the arrival time by 5-6hrs, poor Col Dennis Levan and another MSgt( forgotten the name liao) have to camp at the airtport to w8 for us and to frequently check the net every 30mins or so to knw about the details regarding about our flight. Leave the airport at went for some supper, by then already 12am the nx day liao.

The yellow bus, the same exact one we use to see at American movies and dramas. Our mode of transport for the first 3 days b4 Summer Leadership School and for the last 4 days b4 coming bak home.

Day 2( San Antonio, Texas 12am 6th June 2008):
Rite, we went and have supper at Jim's after they picked us up. Supper was seriously not supper at all lah. It was actually DINNER!! judging by wat we ATE, we were SHOCK! ->
Rasheed's pancake, apprently he was also in a state of shock when it was serve to him. He went: " Wau lao, so BIG arh!?" which sent our eyes to the source of commotion to figure things out. When we look at it, we laugh and exclaim: "everything's double overhere..." In the end, i also helped in to finish rasheed's pancake, that bloody arsehole called mi a garbage bin! So much for chipping in to help! Xin ran's portion of her chicken burger was well the half the size of the above, the size o the chicken fillet was around one adult-sized palm and its thickness was around half and inch( dunno wats an inch, check ruler) but no photo to show u guyz. She also freak out when she saw it, from wat i can deduce, it should take 2 of her to finish that serving.

My Ribeye steak! Medium-well, cost USD$13. A bargain, but this cost is covered by the good old folks at AFJROTC who sponsors our meals for the entire trip.

My table's ppl having a group photo.

The whole ICEP USA's participants photo-taking...

Day 2( Randolph Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas 10am++ 6th June 2008):
Rite, this is the second part to my entry on day 2 above. Apparently, wehn we arrived at the base, we were to tired to do anythign except to freshen up and SLEEP. After 8 hours or so of sleeping, we were woken up to go to our visit to John Jay High School( the school that hosted us) then i got a chance to snap the picture of HOME we called b4 SLS and b4 the trip bak home.

Nice rite? Nvr knew that they have such wonderful service rite at a AIR FORCE BASE!! U knw wat they call this? Randolph Air Force INNS( Yes! U are not being tricked, this are called INNS!) Wau lau, their air force base for ppl to stay one arh( half rite, but only for retired servicemen or active servicemen)?

Nx up, we ate some Tacos at some restaurant similar to Taco Bell( <- cannot find in S'pore ler, shut down liao) for lunch! Not breakfast ALAN!!
Mi as always, ordered beef( for Taco)! HAHAHA! Texas surely is a beef paradise!

John Jay High School->

TX - 782 means their unit number for John Jay High School,
Distinguished Unit sort of like our best unit award for NCC.
A group photo dat many of us will remember...

Wau juz look at the insanse amount of trophies they have accumulated over the years->
An entire STRETCH of the hall!! Not fair, why we cannot have such a humungous amount of space set up for our respective units bak at school? Damnit, forgotten again to take a picture of the entire compound dedicated to them( AFJROTC of John Jay high school)

Their colours...

Failed miserably to take the entire sized of their classroom with the colours...

Waiting in anticipation for the briefing, actually this( briefing) is for the CTOs( American CLT equilavent). But we sort of attented it...
Down at UTSA( University of Texas at San Antonio), our lodgings during our 7 days attending the Summer Leadership School->

It is also there that we receive our camelbaks, little water carriers to 'fight' against the blistering heat( 30 degrees celsius +++) out there.
A sneak peek at the rooms that will housed every participant of the Summer Leadership School, the size of it frightens me, it is the size of my room times 4 to get the size of it. It is also here that we are 'briefed' on wat we are gonna do later on...
Will continue with Part 2 after i got back my computer for repairs...
